WASCOE SCHOLARSHIP

APPLICATION - 2012

Deadline: February 20, 2012

 

Eligible Candidate: Any senior who will be graduating from high school or a full-time college student, (12 credits minimum) averaging at least a “C” average who is a WASCOE member, member’s spouse, or a member’s child or legal dependent. The member must be a FSA employee who has paid their WASCOE dues for the two previous years or since becoming a FSA employee, which ever is less.

Items to include with the application:

     1) An official transcript of grades for the past three years (high school and college as 

        applicable),

     2) A letter of recommendation from your guidance counselor or college advisor (not  

        teachers), as applicable

     3) An essay, not to exceed one double-spaced type written page. The essay topic is:

         What is production agriculture and how does it affect our daily lives?

 

Additional Information:

     1) Periods of employment, average time employed each week, positions held, etc.

     2) List of activities and involvement through school years including scholastic, extra 

        curricular (school related) and civic (non-school) related activities. List honors  

        received, offices held, committee work, etc.

     3) Any additional personal characteristics to help determine your abilities, promise of 

        success, or an explanation of extenuation circumstances.

 

By-Laws of WASCOE  Scholarship Award

1) Changes and amendments in the Awards Program must be approved by the WASCOE Board of Directors.

2) All funds will be deposited with and disbursed by the WASCOE Treasurer.

3) Money will be disbursed after receipt of transcript from the first semester and confirmation of enrollment into the second semester.

4) All funds received shall be disbursed for award purposes.

5) Previous scholarship winners are not eligible to reply for the scholarship award. However, previous applicants are encouraged to reapply.

Deadlines for WASCOE/NASCOE Scholarship Program

 

February 20, 2012    Last Day to submit WASCOE and NASCOE applications

March 1, 2012         State applications must be submitted to the Area Chair

March 30, 2012       State and area selections must be completed

April 1, 2012           State and area applicants will be notified

April 15, 2012          Area winners will be submitted to NASCOE Chairperson

May 30, 2012          National winner selection must be made

June 10, 2012         NASCOE winner will be notified
